LINER REACHES LIVERPOOL IN FOG Rec. 8.30 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 4. Guided solely by radar, the Empress of Canada berthed at Liverpool only four minutes late in a thick fog which in other days would have obliged her to anchor offshore. She is the first large ship to berth by radar. Captain E. A. Shergold said that from the time the ship reached the lightship off Liverpool until a motor launch slipped out from the landing stage and a voice shouted: “You’re here,” the ship’s officers saw only what the radar screen showed.
