STRONG DENIAL
BRITISH VIOLENCE AGAINST JEWS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT INCIDENT Rec. 8 p.m JERUSALEM, Oct. 3. When the Northlands —the second of the two illegal Jewish ships believed to have come from Black Sea ports—was ‘-•escorted into Haifa harbour today, a man on the deck held aloft a dead baby, which he declared died as a result of tear gas which the British naval boarding party used. This demonstration brought a strong denial from a senior .British Army officer, who told correspondents: If you are prepared to believe that, you can print it.” A naval officer said a woman on board the Northlands told him that the babv had been dead some days. The Northlands tied up alongside the other illegal immigrant ship, the Paducah, from which 800 Jews embarked for Cyprus, leaving 7001 to be taken to Cyprus. The Northlands passengers, will be transhipped tomorrow. • . Reuter’s Haifa correspondent says five more illegal immigrant ships are reported heading for Palestine.
