DECORATING THE CITY

“Arangements for the decorating of the city are well in hand,” said the convener of the Decorations Committee, Mr R. F. Barr. He said that, in addition to the decorating of George and Princes streets from Frederick street to the Oval, Cargill’s Corner would be decorated and the route from there to the Caledonian Ground would also receive attention. *ln addition to welcome arches, many pylons are to be placed at street intersections, and hundreds of poles with pennants draped from them will be used as intermediate decorations. The use of bunting, instead of greenery as originally planned, has been decided on in order to prolong for three months the life of the decorations. Floodlighting will be used to illuminate a number of important buildings in the city.
