KON-TIKI RAFT EXPEDITION Rec. 9 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 18. The Kon-Tiki raft expedition which crashed into Raroia reef in the Tuamotu Archipelago, on August 7, radioed to-day: “ Our expedition has been found by Poynesian natives who have moved us six miles in their canoes across the lagoon. We are now on an island containing 120 natives who have given us a tremendous reception and shown great hospitality. High tides and strong seas have washed the raft over the reef into the lagoon. We have spliced the mast and plan to sail the raft to the native village. Radio troubles continue, but all else is fine.” The men had been living on one of the small, uninhabited islands surrounding the lagoon.
