FAIR TO FINE AND COLD The following official weather forecast covering the ensuing 24 hours was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington 1 : Situation.—An anti-cyclone is moving rapidly across New Zealand from the south-west. Pressures are falling rapidly over South-East Australia and Tasmania. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Light to moderate north-east winds, weather fair to fine and cold. Further Outlook.—Slowly deteriorating. Weather in Dunedin.—The sky was mainly overcast and temperatures were cool in Dunedin yesterday. Only 2hr 42min of sunshine were recorded. The maximum temperature was 45.2 degrees, the minimum 38.6 and the grass minimum 36. Rain had fallen during the night, and for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. , 0.19 inches wdte registered. Throughout the day there was a slight breeze from the south-east. The barometer rose steadily, the reading at midnight being 30.35 inches (1028 millibars).
