Star Attraction at Addington

CUP CANDIDATES ENGAGED Although it is not the most richly endowed race on the card, the Lightning Free-for-All should be one of the most interesting events at Addington on Saturday. Several of the 15 runners are eligible for the New Zealand Cup and their performance will no doubt throw some light on prospects for the big event in November. In the Free-for-All on Saturday there is little doubt that Emulous will be selected as favourite by the public, and the brilliant Jack Potts horse is apparently close to the peak of his form, judged by his success at Methven last Saturday. There will be two brackets—War Form and In The Mood, and Nyallo Scott and Highland Fling, and Berkettt’s pair are the more likely to appeal to the public. Both horses will, however, be seen out earlier in the day and this will give a better line on their chances in the Free-for-All. Turco has been trained at Oamaru of recent months and should be a fit horse. Others who have shown that they are ready to race are Knave of Diamonds,. Loyal Nurse, Countless, and Gold Bar. It should be a fine race, with Emulous favourite on each machine.
