WATER IN MILK

AUCKLAND CITY SUPPLY REPORT OF ANALYST P.A. AUCKLAND, Aug. 18. “The number of samples containing added water is the largest for many years and must be regarded seriously,” stated the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Board’s analyst and consultant, Mr L. S. Spackman, in a report on the quality of the city’s milk supply for July received by the board. Of 988 samples submitted to analysis 17 were found to have added water, Mr Spackman said. The water was almost entirely in samples taken of dairymen’s milk and there could be no reasonable excuse for its presence. All licensed dairymen should take notice and use the utmost care in production at all times.
