LITTLE ALTERATION IN SHARE VALUES

Rec. 11,30 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 18. Banking shares showed little alteration on the Sydney and Melbourne Stock Exchanges to-day. In Sydney the only sales to 3 p.m. were five Bank of New South Wales shares (£2O paid) at £36 10s, or 5s below the previous level, and an undisclosed number of Commercial Bank of Sydney (£l2 10s paid) in the vestibule at £24. There was no disposition either to sell ox buy, because of the lack of details of the Government’s proposals regarding compensation to shareholders. In Melbourne 50 National Bank (£2O paid) shares sold unchanged at £3l 3s.
