RELIGION AND LIFE
THIRD MEETING OF CAMPAIGN I —: “Religion not only brings a contribution to the aims and standards of education but it also enters into the very heart of the teaching situation,” said Dr F. W. Mitchell, speaking at the third meeting of the “ Religion and Life ” Campaign at the Methodist Central Mission last night. He emphasised the need for personal integrity and fine standards of life in the teaching profession and said that the same standards were needed among parents and business men. It was important, that the exercising of control and guidance did not lead to an attempt to dominate others, “The corrective to these things comes from religion, with its emphasis on the kinship of man in the Fatherhood of God.” he added. The second address of the evening 'was given by Mr J. Dennison, B.Sc.. a student, who said that selfishness was at the root of most of the evils in the world to-day. The tendency to insist on personal rights at the expense of others must be overcome. The only way to do this was to renpw faith in the Almighty and put things in their proper place. It was necessary to live a religion as well as profess it, thus bringing about a revolution in the life of the community.”
