COLD AND SHOWERY Situation.—A deep depression in the South Tasman Sea is moving eastward. Forecast to 5 p.in. To-day.—Winds turning this morning to - fresh or strong south-westerlies, with cold showery weather. ' ' j Further Outlook.—Similar conditions. Weather in Dunedin.—Mild conditions prevailed in Dunedin yesterday, although a north-easterly breeze tempered the warmth in the afternoon. A total of 7hr ,48min of sunshine was recorded. The maximum temperature reached was 57.7 deg and the minimum 40.2 deg. Five degrees of frost were registered, the grass minimum temperature being 26.1 deg. At midnight the barometer had steadied after falling during the day. The reading then was 29.50 in (999 millibars).
