TERRORISM IN PALESTINE
Sir, —“ E. M. S.” last week has evinced feelings of Empire dignity and national loyalty which merit considerable commendation. However, let us suppose that some local Scottish folk felt an urge to return to Scotland, which, many generations ago, their forefathers were obliged to leave. Upon arriving near their historic land, they are met by British battleships and destroyers. They are not only prevented from landing but are pushed around by whatever political pressure is available. Their countrymen, naturally feeling indignant of pledges being broken, are labelled " terrorists.” Was our own national heritage secured without bloodshed? Would we deny Christian charity in the form of humanitarian justice to the smallest nation that has conferred more benefit and advantage upon the world for its size than any other people? Do not we enjoy in many different measures the celebration of Christmas and Easter?—l am, etc., M. V. B.
Sir,—The advocacy of that which "E. M. S.” condemns in others rather negatives his sense of balance, for man has not yet created harmony by the methods advocated, nor shall he. Seeing that ” the Scriptures cannot be broken,” I would offer to ” E. M. S. ” for perusal Jer.: 31.10-14, "Hear the .word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather Him and keep Him as a shepherd doth his flock.” When the set time arrives Britain herself will willingly transport these people in harmony with prophecy.—l am, etc., Macandrew Bay. W. A. Duncan.
