BUILDING PERMIT AT ALEXANDRA
Sir, —The explanation of the Building Controller about the permit for the new cake shop in Alexandra bears out the statement in my previous letter that apparently a permit is not required to build. This man proceeded to build without a permit, as the shop was commenced in June or early July, and to all intents and purposes was finished, with perhaps the exception of the windows, before July 19. The permit to build was issued some time between that date and August 1, so that disposes of that position as regards commencing building without a permit. The granting of a permit to commence a home-made cake business is beside the question The only question is why one man can get away with commencing building without a permit.—l am, etc.. Fair Play.
