STOCKS RALLY ON LONDON EXCHANGE

Rec. 7 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 14. Led by gilt-edged stocks, the London Stock Exchange rallied to-day after the big losses yesterday and on Tuesday. “Daltons” (Government 2i per cent, irredeemable bonds), which fell to £BO 10s or lower in official dealings yesterday, recovered to about £B2 at to-day’s close. There was another sharp advance of South African and other gold mining shares, benefiting from “escapism” and a belief in an eventual fall of production costs or thp high gold price.
