COMPETITIONS SOCIETY
Mr V. E. Doran was in the chair at a meeting of the executive of the Oamaru Competitions Society. Mr A. L. Familton (junior vice-president) was appointed secretary and treasurer, and Mr W. Edwards was elected junior vice-president. Messrs A. Sim, A. C. Taylor, R. Adamson. D. Lawrie, S. Hook, and A. L. Familton were appointed a Schedule Committee, with full authority to communicate with previous judges, teachers of singing, elocution, and dancing, if necessary. It was decided to contribute £1 to the Young New Zealanders’ Club for suitable prizes for competitions conducted by the club. It was agreed that the “ quiz ” session came within the powers pf the society to assist. Messrs Doran and Hook reported on the progress made regarding the proposed scheme for ear-phones for the hospital, and the executive agreed upon a line of action which should meet with the support of the community when the appeal was launched.
