BADMINTON

PROGRESS OF COMPETITION The second round of the A Grade badminton competition came to an end on Tuesday with Dunedin unbeaten. Matches in both grades will continue until August 26 and it appears likely that the Dunedin Club will win both the A and B Grade Shields. . The dates for the South Island and Otago tournament are not yet fixed, but will probably be September 17, 18 and 20. The Otago Association expects to have entries from Invercargill, Oamaru and Christchurch as well as ■ from Central Otago clubs. Singles challenges are played every Tuesday and the following were the results of challenges this week:—Miss M. Kerr beat Mrs R. Stark 11-6, 11— 1: Miss N. Kerr beat Miss N. Parker 11—5, 11—5; Mrs J. McPherson beat Mrs Tilly 11—6, 11—1; Miss M. Croft beat Miss R. Melville 11—4, 11—7; Miss C. Crooks beat Miss de Beer 11—4, 11—3; Miss J Wilson beat Miss A. Jones 11—3, 11—6. W. Abbott beat J.
