A PRACTICE RUN

CALL AT CHRISTCHURCH ■j Daily Times Special Service CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 4. The North Auckland team arrived in Christchurch by air this morning and had a practice run at Rugby Park in the afternoon. The original team of 21 players has been strengthened by the inclusion of W. Mathieson, a forward weighing 15st 71b. The team will leave for Dunedin to-morrow morning and will do light training at Dunedin until Saturday. Mr R. G. Murdoch, manager of the team, who was born and brought up in Dunedin, said this evening that he was in charge of a team that would play bright, open football no matter what the result. “It should be remembered,” said Mr Murdoch, “that this team is picked from the most widely-scattered union in the Dominion, and until last week some of the players had not seen one another. All are country players and do not have the advantage of playing in regular Rugby union competitions."
