In the curtain-raiser the North Otago junior representatives defeated a South Canterbury senior B team by 10 points to 3. J. Dunn opened the scoring for South Canterbury with a try from a passing rush, and just before half time de Joux- scored from a scrum near the line to dive over for a try, Ceilings converting, making the half time score North Otago 5, South Canterbury 3. In the second spell Gawn scored from a forward charge, Collins again converting to make the final score: North Otago .. - - 10 points. South Canterbury .. 3 points. Mr J. L. Bush was the referee.
