FOR THE EMPIRE’S CAUSE In Memoriam
GIBBS.—In fond - and loving remembrance of our dear son and brother. Private D W Gibbs, who made the supreme sacrifice on August 4, 1942, eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. W. Gibbs, of Houipapa. and late of Kahuika. To El Alamein so far away Our thoughts, they often stray. To a loved one who left us Five years agp to-day. God gave us strength to bear it, And courage to fight the blow; But what it meant to lose him No one will ever know. The wound is deep, it will not heal, No one knows just how we feel; To have, to love, - and then to part. Is the saddest story of our heart.
