AUCKLAND WOOL SALE COMPETITION FOR QUALITY P.A. AUCKLAND, June 11. The Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association makes the following official report on the sixth Auckland wool sale, held to-day:— A total of 15,207 bales of new season’s greasy, 189 bales of new season’s slipe, and 14 bales of new season’s scoured wool were offered, and of the total clearance approximately 90 per cent, was taken by buyers, the balance being taken over by the New Zealand Wool Disposal Commission at floor reserves. The offering of new season’s greasy consisted of fleece wool, together with a large percentage of lambs’ wool, bellies, pieces and crutchings. The fleece wool offered at this sale was not up to the standard 'of previous sales. Any fine, bright and well-skirted lines met with keen competition at late rates, but competition was limited for inferior and unskirted wools, with prices firm on “ floor reserve ” values. Good lambs’ wool and bellies and pieces sold well, but slightly seedy and inferior lines were easier than at the last Auckland sale. 1 Summarising the position, competition, although keen on certain wools, was erratic.
