The Food and Rationing Controller, Mr A. J. Costello left Wellington for dismorning by air for Australia for discussions oh food and supply problems. The Rev. James Rattray, of Ahaura, West Coast, was the recipient of numerous telegrams and messages congratulating him on Having, attained hi.s eightieth birthday on June 3. At the March examinations of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries, A. J Renton and W. J. H. Young, of Dunedin, completed the final section, and T. A. Scoular obtained a sectional pass. Passengers who left by air for the north yesterday were:—Dr Mandl. Mme. Llli Kraus, Mr R. Pikler, Mr J. L. Jones, Miss T Crowder (Christchurch), Mr J. Johnston Miss M. Stewart, Mr J. Campbell, Mr R. R. Searle Mr A. C. Davis (Wellington) Mr R- W. Gordon, Mrs W. Gordon (Gisborne). Mrs G. A. Jenkins (Auckland). Those who arrived from the north were:—Mr and Mrs A. Hamilton, Mr J- G. Cochrane. Mr Ogllvy. Mrs T. McKibbin, Mrs J. T. Armlt. Mr J. Barnett Mr G. McNab, Mr J. Johnston, Mrs E. P. Croll, Mrs J. McCarthy, Miss Levinsohn. Passengers who left for the south were; _Mr P. Taylor. Mrs H.
