ARGENTINA ACCUSED

Planning Aggression Against Brazil

CHARGE CAUSES SENSATION

Rec. 9.80 p.m. RIO DE JANEIRO, June 10. A declaration by an Opposition deputy that Argentina planned aggression against Brazil was discussed by the Brazilian Chamber of Deputies in a secret session to-day. The secret session was called after a speech last week by the leader of the powerful Democratic Union Party, Senhor da Cunha, in which he criticised Argentine influences in the Para* guayan civil war. He asserted that Argentina’s President, General Peron, had a secret agreement with President Higinio Morinigo, of Paraguay, and that Argentina was arming itself with the intention of repudiating the good neighbour policy. “ I am not trying to be alarming or scandalous, but would consider myself failing in my patriotic duty if I did not warn my country against this threat to its security,” Senhor da Cunha said. He declared that General Peron’s agreement with President Moririgo provided for the delivery of Argentine munitions to Paraguay every fortnight. Senho»*. da Cunha was supported by Deputy Periera Silva, a member of the ruling Social Democratic Party, who said that an Argentine military Mission was now training the Ecuadorian army. He > complained that Brazil’s frontiers were virtually abandoned. The Communist deputy, Senhor Maurico Grabois, attempted to deny the charges against General Peron, and this precipitated a heated debate which became a tumult. The majority party leader said he was deeply impressed and assured the Chamber that the President, General Dutra, would take adequate measures to protect Brazil. Senhor da Cunha’s charges caused a sensation to-day. All the afternoon newspapers displayed the news under large headlines.
