Piloted by Lieutenant D. Gershowitz, of Brooklyn, this Coast Guard helicopter went into a crash dive while demonstrating before a group of high school students at the Floyd Bennett field, New York. The pilot managed to pull the aircraft out of the dive before a disaster occurred, but was forced to crash-land on the tarmac of a hangar nearby, where the plane burst into flames.
