GLIDING REVIVAL
CLUB FORMED IN DUNEDIN The first post-war attempt to reestablish the sport of gliding in the South Island was taken Tast night, when a group of former R.N.Z.A.F. members met in Dunedin for the purpose of forming the Otago Gliding and -Sailplane Club. There was a fair attendance, and it was resolved to send a representative to the forthcoming conference of the New Zealand Glider 1 Association at Wellington to make arrangements for the club’s affiliation. Hill launching of the craft is proposed by the members of the new club but, as yet, no arrangements havp been made for a site for these activities when equipment comes to handIt is expected that the gliders will come from the United States or from Australia, in both of which countries the sport of gliding has assumed large proportions since the cessation of hostilities.
The club' expects to increase its membership considerably, and is especially hopeful that men with technical experience will take an interest in gliding. The first executive officers of the club were elected last night. They are:—President, Mr R. J. Foyster; secretary, Mr R. A. Reekie; treasurer. Mr A. J. Varne.y.
