NOTES FROM RICCARTON
HORSES FOR MANAWATU Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, June 4. Many of the Riccarton horses who raced on the earlier days have returned home from Wingatui without waiting for the conclusion of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting. Canterbury horses remaining for Saturday include Tranbycroft, Roman Son, Indian Sign, Miss Mercury. Deep Harmony, and Eudora. J. S. Shaw will go north to-night with The Crofter and Penetrate for the Manawatu meeting, after which they may remain for Hawke’s Bay. O. Ferrall will ride The Crofter in hurdle races, while R. W. Shaw, in addition to handling Penetrate, has been engaged for Cooraclare Language, who has been trained here by C. B. Dawson, has been sold by Mr G. R. Macdonald, and she will be shipped to her new owner in the North Island She is a four-year-old mare bv Lang Bian from Scold, and she has plenty of speed, so that improved race form may be expected. Leighmond was galloping well, but E. J Jennings, who bought him recently from J. H. Prosser, has found it necessary to spell him, as the result of an injury. E. Rosewarne Is handling two yearlings. Mrs J. P. Drury is the owner of a colt by Parchment from Rata, by Winning Hit —Hororata. ‘ while a filly by Stourbridge will be raced by a new patron of the steble
The Sky Pilot mare in the team of E. J Jennings went well when sent over a round of the steeplechase schooling fences. She may be ready to race at the hunt meetings at Waimate and Washdyke next month
