RED CROSS ACTIVITIES
OVERSEAS RELIEF WORK The annual report of the North Otago centre of the Red Cross Society indicates the extent of the activities of the society in overseas relief work. With the assistance of all sub-branches and the town and country residents, states the report, 20 cases containing 940 items of food were collected, packed and shipped to Britain. Sixteen, cases of clothing had also been packed and shipped to Greece, England, and Scotland. Five cases were shipped under CORSO. The society still had on hand both food and clothing which'it was hoped would be ready for shipment, at an early date. . i - Many of the country sub-branche| had ceased active operations, but had 'intimated their intention of assisting the centre should assistance be required. The Junior Red Cross numbered 10 circles, with a membership of 162, in addition to the Otekaike Special School boys who were undertaking the manufacture of toys.
