Race Meetings at Wingatui
MANY RECENT IMPROVEMENTS
It is the unanimous opinion of those who attended Wingatui on Saturday and Monday that the racing was full of interest, and appreciation was freely expressed concerning the improvements recently carried out by the club, particularly the top-dressing of a large area in the vicinity of the stands and totalisators, which allows patrons to move about dryshod even in the winter. The club’s comprehensive building scheme must, of course, be held over until the restrictions are lifted, but it is easy to appreciate that eventually the course and the appointments will be among the best in the Dominion. The success of the present meeting has been tinged with a note of regret concerning the destruction of four horses after accidents, but these accidents can be put down to “the luck"of the game,’’ and not to any fault in the track or the jumps.
The club has received splendid acceptances for Saturday, when another good day’s racing should be seen,
