WOOL VALUES

MEAT EXPORTERS’ SCHEDULE lAGREEMENT ON INCREASES PA WELLINGTON, June 3. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board states that an agreement has been reached with the meat exporters covering payment for the increased value of wool over and above that embodied in the opening schedule of wool values, which has not been varied since the commencement of the season These were reserve prices set by the New Zealand Wool Disposal Commission. Under the agreement, retrospective payments will be made on scheduled stock killed from the commencement of the season till May 31, provided that such retrospective payments are warranted by realisations. Since it appears likely that a fair proportion of slipe wool may not be disposed of for several months, there will be an attendant delay in assessing the true position. Every endeavour will be made, however, to ensure that the mhtter will be dealt with as promptly as possible. As the amount of stock killed from May 31 until the end of the export season is very small bv comparison, a settlement was reached with the meat exporters by which the following schedule rises, dating from June 2, would be accepted in full settlement of all claims for increased wool values on stock killed from that date until the end of the season in the North and South Islands:—Lambs, Jd per lb of meat; wethers and ewes, |d per lb of meat. These rises are in addition to those already published as dating from June 2.
