COLD AND SHOWERY The following official weather forecast, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m, yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—An anti-cyclone is east of 'the North Island, while a deep depression lies south of New Zealand. Forecast, to 5 p.m. To-day.—Mode-rate north-west to westerly winds; weather cloudy, with some brief rain this morning and scattered coastal showers later in the day; temperatures rather cold. Further Outlook. —Changeable southwesterly weather. Weather in Dunedin.—Conditions were dyll and overcast in Duriedin yesterday, only 18 minutes of sunshine being recorded. Temperatures, however, were mild, the maximum being 55.5 degrees and the minimum • 45.31- -The minimum grass grees. No rain feu during the day. There was a. very light easterly wind at times, but it in the evening. Barometric pressure dropped sharply from 10 a.m., the reading at midnight being 29.80 in (1009 millibars).
