PREPARING FOR SATURDAY

YESTERDAY’S TRACK WORK The track at Wingatui has never been in better order at this time of the year and provided there is no heavy rain in the meantime, the going will be in reaUy good winter condition for the opening of the three-day meetng on Saturday. Eriskay was among those worked yesterday morning, when most of the galloping was done on the course proper well out from the rails. Eriskay was going better than Tring at the end of a mile and a-quarter, with the last mile covered in lmin 51 3-ssec. Gold Song and Artful Maid did the best five furlongs in lmin 5 3-ssec, and could have improved on that. Artful Maid has never looked better. Foxchase, Stagestruck, Brockie, and Amorlad went six furlongs in lmin 20sec in a good working gallop. There was nothing between Fine Night and Bobby Dazzler at the end of a mile, but they were not on a time-making mission

Slick and Irish King came home well to lead Arctotis, Taradale, and two of D. J. McDonald’s youngsters at the end of half-a-mile in 52 l-ssec.

Special Flight could have improved on the 55sec she took for half-a-mile. Lord Roland, Baffling, and Special Envoy were sent over six furlongs in lmin 21 2-ssec, the first named having a big break at the post. Lord Dundonald ran half-a-mile in 53 3-ssec, and Lady Lancer took a tick longer. Quadrille and Push On were paired over seven furlongs in lmin 42sec. Right Through appeared to have the edge on Royal Anne in a six-furlong gallop in lmin 20 4-ssec. Air Ace was given strong work over six furlongs in lmin 2 4sec. St. Nattar and Joygiver were among those worked on the sand and they went seven furlongs in lmin 34 3-ssec. White Face, Triumphal and Jaunty covered six furlongs in lmin 22 3-ssec. In a school over the fences French Glider jumped better than Arabian Night in the earlier stage but the latter improved as he went on.
