JUMPING PREPARATIONS Special to the Daily Times AUCKLAND, Apl. 15. With the approach of the jumping season, hurdlers and steeplechasers are being set more serious work, and a good deal of schooling took place at Ellerslie this morning Toronto and Strike Up jumped the four steeplechase fences on the flat in good style, and so did Prakas'n. Several flat horses also recorded creditable efforts, Bright Vaals and Wonder Boy doing a solid half-mile. Others to go freely were Lace, Lady Bian, Cowper, Good Bay, and Raphael. The No. 2 grass was open for galloping, and the going was slow. Good Bay (Tremain) hit out boldly over three furlongs in 40 2-ssec. He is partial to winter conditions, and won the Cornwall Handicap last June. Lace (Tremain) sprinted three furlongs in 41 l-ssec. She appreciated the easy surface, and although she is small, she has pace. Ra Ora (Vaughan) ran three furlongs under a good hold in 44sec. British Mint (Neill), Tamarakau (Bagby), and Vigilant (Wilson) covered four furlongs in 56sec. Bright Vaals in Form Bright Vaals (Wilson) led Wonder Boy (Smith), Master Bar (Neill), and Maravari (Mooney), who reeled off four furlongs in 54 2-ssec. Maravari was left, and Bright Vaals led throughout to finish half a length in front of Wonder Boy. engaged in the Jack Tanner Memorial Handicap at Tauranga. Sporting Nation (Tremain) went four furlongs in 56sec. Susan Lee (Tremain) worked freely over four furlongs in 55 2-sscc. Cowper (R. Smith) was never off the bit while running half a mile in 55 l-ssec. Raphael (medium boy) traversed four furlongs in 55 4-ssec. Broiealice (Hughes) came home the final three of four furlongs in 41 2-ssec. Lightmint (Tremain) and Lady Bian (Vaughan) travelled five furlongs in Imin 10 2-ssec. True Dink (medium boy), Gaelic League (Hughes), and Diamond Dink (Bagby) covered five furlongs in lmin 9sec, the final three in 42sec. They were joined at the three by the gelding by Gynerium from Penzance, wiio came home in 40sec. easily beating the others.
