REQUEST REJECTED

DISCUSSIONS ON CHINA REPLY BY MR MARSHALL Rec. 8 p.m. LONDON, Mar. 16. Mr George Marshall, replying to Mr Molotov’s letter of March 11, seeking informal discussions on China, rejects Mr Molotov’s request for a conference “however informal,” as undesirable, says the Moscow correspondent of the Associated Press. Mr Marshall reiterated that he is willing to exchange information concerning the execution of the provisions of the Moscow protocol of December, 1945, regarding China. He also suggested that each furnish this information before April 1, and make copies available to the Chinese Government. Mr Bevin has not yet replied to Mr Molotov’s letter.
