COMPULSORY TRAINING VISCOUNT MONTGOMERY ASKED TO SPONSOR PLAN Rec. 11 p.m. MELBOURNE, Mar. 17. The Federal Executive of the Returned Servicemen's League will ask Field-marshal Viscount Montgomery to sponsor the league’s plan for compulsory military training when he confers with the Federal Government in July. The plan, which has beendeague policy since 1924, comprises a national register to enable instant preparation in the event of war, military training for physically fit males between 18 and 26, physical training for both sexes up to 18, special units for training in technical warfare, and a navy, army, and air force of not levs than 100,000 men. Viscount Montgomery has cabled that he will meet the executive and has expressed a wish to spend as much time as possible with his old comrades of El Alamein.
