FRENCH MOVE FROM HANOI THREAT TO VIET NAMESE Rec. 8 p.m. PARIS, Jan. 21. French armoured columns with air and artillery support moved from Hanoi in a pincers manoeuvre to clear the Viet Namese forces from Hanoi’s environs, says the French General staff. The columns were only a mile apart at the end of the day, threatening the insurgent troops remaining in Hanoi with tighter encirclement.
