KEEN DEMAND FOR FAT LAMBS P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 22. The entry of store lambs at Addington to-day totalled about 8000, and was of a useful quality. Most lines were straight drafts, with some fats among them. The attendance was large, and bidding became brisk after a slow opening. Values were Is a head above those of last week’s sale. Extra good lambs sold from 26s Id to 28s lOd; good, 23s Id to 25s lOd; medium, 19s Id to 22s lOd; small and backward, 13s 6d to 18s lOd; culls. 8s to 12s 9d. The adult sheep entry totalled 1462, with about equal numbers of ewes and wethers. The quality was mixed. Best wethers made to 35s 6d; others. 23s lOd to 29s 9d; good two-tooth ewes. 31s 3d to 365; best of older ewes. 18s 3d to 255; culls, down to 10s 9d. Steers were back from £2 to £2 10s; heifers, £1 10s: and cows £1 a head. The best beef made to 60s; good, 45s to 50s; medium, 35s to 40s; best cow beef, to 355; secondary, to 32s 6d (all per 1001 b). Extra prime heavy steers made to £27 12s 6d; prime heavy, £2l to £24; prime mediumweight, £l6 to £2O; ordinary and light. £lO to £ls; extra prime heifers, to £lB 2s 6d; prime, £l4 to £l7; medium and light, £7 10s to £ll 10s; extra prime cows, to 16 7s 6d; prime, £9 to £l3; ordinary and light, £5 to £8 10s. In the fat pig section the yarding of porkers was the largest of the season, and was of good quality. Overfat pigs were hard to sell. Values eased at the outset by 4s to ss, and latdr there was a further easing of 3s to 4s. The chopper entry was smaller. Values eased by £2 to £3. The bacon yarding was also large, but the competition was keen, and values were better by ss. Light porkers made from £3 2s 6d to £3 9s 6d; medium, £3 12s 6d to £3 18s 6d; heavy. £3 19s 6d to £4 9s 6d; choppers, £6 Is 6d to £ll 18s 6d; light baconers, £4 19s 6d to £5 9s 6d; medium, £5 12s 6d to £5 17s 6d; heavy, £6 2s 6d to £6 9s 6d; extra heavy, £6 14s 6d to £7 4s 6d.
