Sir.— Regarding the potentialities of Bretton Woods, all we have to assess on is human experience, and up to date the financial experts have failed to produce a peace and prosperity Santa Claus. Sometimes I wonder how many crops a season are produced at Fort Knox. It seems to me the finance department of world economy needs an ev er-increasing slice of world production to meet the cost of its expensive and inefficient ser Vl ?f the new manager of Bretton Woods were a carpenter and some farmers, tradesmen, and retailers were on the: directorate we might be justified in expec ing mankind to have faith in its future, least they could do no worse.-^am.
