BEEF VALUES EASIER (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, January 7. There were smaller yardings iri all sections at the Lorneville sale to-day, compared with the sale cn December 17. In the fat sheep section there was a fairly large yarding of good sheep, the bulk of the offering being wethers. A few trucks of good quality ewes were offered. The market opened at reduced rates and these continued until the end of the sale. Wethers made to 38s. a drop of 2s 6d to 3s. and ewes were the same. Prime heavy wethers made to 38s: good, 34s to 365; medium. 30s to 32s 6d- young ewes. 26s to 27s 6d; good full-mouth ewes. 22s 6d to 245; lighter. 20s. A small offering of lambs was passed at auction. The yarding of fat cattle included several trucks of good quality bullocks and heifers. The bulk of the offering of cows was of indifferent qulaity. Prices were easier than last sale and this was especially noticeable in the cow section. Prime medium-weight bullocks brought to £23 good, £l3 10s to £2O; medium. £l4 to £ls; prime heavy heifers, £18: good, £ls to £l6: lighter, to £l4; prime heavyweight cows made to £lB ss; good, £l4 to £ls; medium, £lO to £11; lighter, down to £B.
