WORLD SNOOKER TITLE CLARK McCONACHY’S CHANCES (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 7. Fred Davis, Sidney Smith, and Horace Lindrum are joint three to one favourites for the snooker championship. with Clark McConachy at four to one, and McConachy’s chance looks as attractive as any, says the sports editor of the Daily Mail. No player could be taking the championship more seriously than the poker-faced New Zealander, who is running into grand form. He chalked 'up two more snooker centuries, namely 103 and 123, at the week-end, making four since he arrived. If. as 'some say deprecatingly, “they are only exhibition games,” the reply is that McConachy plays exhibitions with the same seriousness as a match. His control of the cue and ball is superb.
