BALCLUTHA BOWLING The Stirling Bowling Club held a successful pairs tournament on trie Balclutha and Stirling greens on Saturday. Twenty-four pairs- took part. The morning broke fine, and indications were for good conditions, but, unfortunately, the weather changed about 11 a.m., and in the afternoon a heavy shower interrupted play for a short period. Two sections were completed, but the semi-finals and final had to be postponed owing to rain, and these will be played on the Stirling green to-night. On the Balclutha green, W. H. Nelson and J. McDonald (Balclutha) went through unbeaten, although with two ends to play in the fourth game their socre was level with J. Tait (Stirling). The last two ends were watched with interest, as had the Stirling pair won three others would have been in the hunt. However, McDonald scored well and won the section outright. On the Stirling green, W. Sutherland and L. J. Edwards (Balclutha) and A. Botting and partner (Stirling) each had four wins, and these pairs went into the post-section play. In the semi-final Edwards and McDonald were drawn to meet, Botting having the bye. The first game had not long started when heavy rain commenced, and caused a stoppage of play.
