Gallagher’s team for the Vincent meeting this week will be Branford, Echo Supreme, Magnificent, and Ikawai. A Likely Sort Eloquence is a likely sort for the country circuit. A three-year-old gelding by Quite Sure from Deste, he is trained at 'Gore by H. R. Reid. Broke Down Marco Polo broke down when racing at Addington last week, and it is unlikely that the Jack Potts horse will race again. Team for Omakau The Gore trainer L. Abernethy is a consistent patron of meetings on the country circuit and he will have Soviet Star, Sir Hall, Avon’s Pride, and Blonde Sailor racing at Omakau. Promising Colt The Islington trainer, M. J. McTigue, has a very promising sort in Real Brigade, a three-year-old colt by Light Brigade from Real Burton, by Real Guy from Reflection. Real Brigade showed a lot of speed in the Champion 1 Stakes at Ashburton until he broke his hobbles. Run of Success W. R. Butt is having a run of success with Direct Medium, who won the principal event each day at the Greymouth meeting. A five-year-old by Dillon Hall from Trelese, he looks sure to reach much tighter classes. He was cleverly handled at Greymouth by the young reinsman J. Carmichael. An Overdue Win Gold Weed, the winner of the Progressive Handicap at Addington, is trained at Ashburton by J. Behrns for Mr J. Harris, the president of the Beaumont Racing Club. A win for the Wrack gelding was well overdue and he had to go 4min 29 3-ssec to get it. Early Win Indicated Lady Dawn, now trained by P, Gallagher. ran her most promising race for some time when she finished fourth in the Mason Stakes at Addington last week. A six-year-old by Grattan Loyal, she was got from Lou Thorpe, by Our Thorpe from Lou Wilkes, by Harold Wilkes from Lady Kentucky, by Kentucky. Winner of Treble Fairy Wings, the winner of three races at the Greymouth meeting, is a five-year-old bay mare by Quite Sure from Resound who was got by Wrack from Echo, bv El Carbine from Wood Nymph, by Wildwood from Miss Poole, by Blackwood Abdallah. At the Oamaru meeting on Labour Day Fairy Wings was heavily backed for the opening event on the card and showed promise by running a good second She is trained by E. J. Smith, who was associated with that fine trotter Sea Gift.
