AUSTRALIAN’S FAST THREE MILES (Rec. 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, Jan. 5. George Campbell, who yetserday at the. State test trials lowered the Australian record tor a native-born runner tor three miles by 18 l-ssec, said he would refuse to start in the national championships over this distance. The reason is that he has trained for the half-mile and mile only. Paced by his brother, Don, and running on a heavy track, Campbell ' covered the three miles in 14min 29 4-ssec, finishing 200 yards ahead of his brother. The Australian record of 13min 59 3-ssec is held by the New Zealander, Cecil Matthews.
