CINEMA SHOWS AT SEA
PORT LINE INNOVATION FOR CREW (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 30. Regular cinema shows at sea for crews of cargo vessels is one of the many amenities which the Port Line is planning to introduce on its services between the United Kingdom. New Zealand and Australia, says the Daily Telegraph. . The first of the company’s freighters so fitted will be the Port Pirie. which is to make her maiden voyage in January. Finding sufficient head room for the screen and a suitable place on board ' a cargo vessel to seat 50 or more were the principal problems which had to be overcome. The Port Pirie will sail at about the time the shipping pool ends, when the men will no longer be directed to a particular ship. Companies like the Port Line, which provides accommodation for crews equal to that for passengers in many vessels, will then be welcoming back old hands.
