PROSPECTS FOR TO-DAY AURORA AUSTRALIS FAVOURED (Special) INVERCARGILL, Jan. 1. Prospects are for fine weather for the opening of the Southland Racing Club’s summer meeting to-morrow. The track has improved, but will be on the slow side. Lorna Leigh is ineligible for the New Year Handicap, and Great Coon is likely to start In the Flying Handicap in preference to the Tradesmen’s Handicap. The following rehandicaps have been declared : Three-year-old Handicap.—Stagestruck now 8.13. Flying Handicap.—Listen In now 9.1. Waikiwi Handicap.—Mgrry Lancer now 8.11, San Quentin now 7.13. Waihopai Handicap.—Benbecula 1 now 9.0. Listen In now 8.5. Brackets are:—A venal Hurdle Handicap.—Maharajah and Filibeg, French Knight and Kassai.
