STEER-RIDING CONTESTS

Sir,—l wish publicly to protest against the steer-riding contest which is held annually at the Owaka Rodeo. The whole affair is in the hands of men unfit to handle such things. They will not risk their own skins by riding themselves, but have the impudence enough to decoy others into doing so. I honestly think that in view of what occurred when a man was injured on Saturday, the Owaka A. and P. Committee should give up their efforts.—ln am, etc., Disgusted Spectator. Owaka, December 30.
