LADIES’ BOWLING
BIRTHDAY OF ASSOCIATION About 140 lady bowlers were present at the Crawford Lounge for the celebration of the twenty-first birthday of the Otago Ladies’ Bowling Association. After dinner had been served and the birthday cake cut, the following toasts were honoured:— " The Otago Ladles' Bowling Association," Mrs M. H. Alexander (of the Dunedin Club), reply, Mrs R. L. Morrison (president): "Clubs of the Association," Miss M. Gillies (Dunedin), reply, Mrs A. Bennett (Mornington); "Foundation Members,” Mrs Pettit (North-East Valley) and Mrs G. Adess (St. Kilda), reply, Mrs Clatworthy (Otago): "Press ana Radio,” Mrs S Hill (Logan Park), reply. Mrs E. Longworth (St, Kfida); “The President," Mrs McConnell (Kaikoral), reply, Mrs R. L. Morrison. The prize-winners were:—Bridge, Mrs Abbot 1, Mrs Grant 2; Flag 500. Mesdames Thomson, Beattie, Stanley, and Thompson. 9 Anderson’s Bay Club The Anderson’s Bay Club opened the season on Tuesday, when, an enjoyable afternoon was spent, pairs being played. The winners were Mesdames Martin, McAllen, Cantrell, and Miss Partridge. The president, Mrs F. G. Hall, entertained the members to' afternon tea. Otago Club The Otago Ladles’ Bowling Club opened its playing season on Tuesday last. The president, Mrs McCrorie, entertained members and visitors from other clubs at progressive competitions on the green and at afternoon tea in the pavilion. The prize-winners were Mrs Mills, Mrs Poland, Mrs Stone, and Miss McGregor. The hostess was accorded a vote of thanks from representatives of the visiting clubs, and by Mrs Halligan on behalf of Otago members.
