STEEL SHORTAGE
SUPPLIES FOR DOMINION (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 3. Great Britain was definitely supplying essential types of steel to New Zealand, and would continue to do so, said the Commissioner of Supply, Mr F. R. Picot, yesterday, when the statement that there was an acute shortage of steel in this country was referred to him. Mr Picot said that at present there was a world-wide shortage of steel, but New Zealand had been able to obtain considerable quantities from countries themselves in dire need of this essential material.
