NAVY LEAGUE
FINAL MEETING FOR YEAR
The Women’s Committee held its final meeting for the year last Wednesday. There was a full attendance of members. The next meeting will not take place until February, unless circumstances necessitate an earlier one. •
The last issue of wool from the wardroom for this year was made on the same day. Adequate notice will be given in this column when the next distribution will be made in the New Year. Miss Gibson reported that the activities of the spinning room had ceased for the time being, at the end of September. During the short working period this year 501 b of spun wool had been made, many garments had been made and given by. members (or overseas families, and parcels had also been sent. Miss Fraser, in a concise report, stated that the members of the Girls' Auxiliary had provided much private . hospitality for officers of a number of visiting merchant navy ships. The chairman expressed the appreciation of the committee to Miss Gibson .and Miss Fraser for their help. Much interest was evinced m the forthcoming Navy League exhibition of Norman Wilkinson’s pictures of " The War at Parcels of food, garments and knitting can be sent in until the end of November, but after that date should be kept back until the end of January. Will anyone, not a Navy League member. desiring to be present at the Navy League annual meeting and “at home ” on October 21 please let the Navy League secretary or Mrs Ross know by October 12, so that reports (to be used as cards of admission) may be sent to them? The executive is desirous of welcoming many of the loyal and faithful helpers and workers of the war years.
