i MR MENZIES OPTIMISTIC ! (Rec. 11 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 2. A change over of two or three per cent, of the votes cast would put Labour out at the next elections, said the Liberal Party leader. Mr R. G. Menzies. in a confident forecast to-day. He emphasised that the Government had lost much ground and that in eight ; doubtful seats a few hundred votes | could decide the issue. The election j could have been won for the Opposi- ! tion had the nuti-Libour swing been j only slightly greater.
