DULL WITH RAIN Forecast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at_ 5 p.m. yesterday bv the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—A depression west of Cook Strait is moving southwards. Forecast to 5 p.m. to-day—North-easterly winds, fresh in North Otago moderate elsewhere; weather dull and rather cold with some rain from the Otago Peninsula northwards. , Further outlook —Possibly improving. Weather in Dunedin.—Bright sunshine prevailed in Dunedin during the early part of yesterday, but the sky became increasingly overcast as the day wore on, and there were some showers in the evening. Sunshine totalling 5 hours 12 minutes was recorded the . maximum temperature was 55.2 degrees, and the minimum was 40.4 degrees. The rain recorded up to 9.30 a.m. yesterday was .01 inch, and the wind during the day was north-westerly, veering to the south-east. The barometer continued to rise steadily and by midnight had reached 30.00 inches (1016 millibars).
