GIRL GUIDES’ ASSOCIATION

Mrs W. H. Borrie, president of the Otago Girl Guides’ Association, presided at the annual meeting, which was held yesterday afternoon in the Council Chambers, and extended a welcome to the Mayor, Mr Cameron, and Mrs Cameron In moving the adoption of the annual report, Mrs M. Arthur, acting provincial commissioner said that although guiding had been at a standstill in many parts of New Zealand the work had been progressing favourably in Otago through the development of camping Mrs F. Allan who seconded the adop tion of the report, stated that the lack of new guiders had created a difficulty in training guides but that the opening of the training house at Marton should do much to alleviate the position. At Marton House, guides from all over the Dominion wou'd meet and receive training in all branches of guide work. Mr Cameron, on behalf of the civ'c authorities, congratulated the association on its achievements and wished it every success in the future. , The election C 1 officers resulted as lollows:—President, Mrs W. H. Borrie; vicepresidents—Mesdames W K. Cameron, R. Dawson E. I. Halsted, T. C. Ross, R Sloan-Brown, H. W Wilkinson, J. Sutherland Ross. Miss F M. Allan, and Miss F. J. Ross; committee—Mesdames J. Anderson, N- Buchanan, J. Gray, S. Harris, G. Sinclair, F. W. Mitchell, Miss J. Hay, Miss A. Stevenson, the divisional commissioner, and the post and lone secretary.
