DISASTER IN SUDAN
NILE REACHES RECORD LEVEL (Rec. 7 p.m.) KHARTOUM, Aug. 27. The Sudan Government has opened credits for the relief of thousands of flood victims in the Blue Nile Valley, where the river has risen more than 55 feet, the highest level ever recorded. The water reached road level in several parts of Khartoum, and surrounding villages were inundated. Thousands of acres of cotton, maize, and sugar cane have been submerged.
